Safe swaddling tip: Always place a swaddled baby on their back.

Swaddling is a proven method to help encourage sleep, which is why parents have been swaddling for thousands of years.

Sleepy Bub’s innovation mimics traditional safe swaddling practices by gently holding a baby’s arms down towards their body (bending at the elbow), positioned comfortably away from the face without the use of wraps or blankets that may cause overheating or become unravelled with the risk of suffocation.

Our sleep suits have been designed with safety and healthy hip development in mind – super stretchy-fabric that widens at the hips so a baby’s legs can bend up and out at the hips.

We support the SIDs & Kids Safe Sleeping guidelines:

  1. Sleep baby on their back from birth, not on tummy or side.
  2. Sleep baby with head and face uncovered
  3. Keep baby smoke free before birth and after
  4. Provide a safe sleeping environment night and day
  5. Sleep baby in their own safe sleeping place in the same room as adult caregiver; for the first 6-12 months
  6. Breastfeed baby (if you can)

  • Wrapping is a useful strategy that parents can use to help their babies to settle and sleep on their back, especially during the first 6 months of life
  • Wrapping and placing babies on the back provides stability and helps to keep babies in the recommended back position
  • When wrapping baby, allow for hip flexion and chest wall expansion and ensure baby is not over dressed under the wrap, has the head uncovered and does not have an infection or fever
  • Babies must not be wrapped if sharing a sleep surface (including bed-sharing) with an adult
  • Discontinue wrapping baby when baby is able to turn onto the tummy during sleep

Sleepy Bub Swaddle & Romper Safety Guidelines:

  • Always place a swaddled baby on their back.
  • Garment must fit baby correctly
  • Do not use if baby’s head can pass through neck opening or if neck opening is too tight.
  • Always ensure the garment is correctly positioned on the baby to avoid the garment coming up over the baby’s face.
  • Always make sure your baby is not over-dressed to avoid over-heating
  • If baby begins to roll to side or tummy, it is no longer safe to swaddle your baby.  Immediately start to transition by unzipping the arms.
  • Use cuff fold over mittens when arms are unzipped to avoid scratching.
  • When using blankets in the cot please follow the SIDS safety recommendations.
Shhhhhhh... Sweet dreams all night long...
